Not a lot of art going on here. But here are a few post cards I don't think I ever got around to showing.
I also had some new Rubber stamps released at Stampotique originals HERE .
Thanks for looking

A Little Bit of New Art
It's been a while since I posted. I have done a few things. Not a lot though. I got out of the habit of making art everyday. Shame on me. I will try to do better.
A birthday card for a friend who has a "thang" for giraffes:
A mixed media post card using a stamp called Take your Time by Daniel Torrente from Stampotique Originals:
A trio for an ATC, Twinchie, Inchie swap with one of my stamps called 3 Daisies from Stampotique Originals:
And a doodle on an ATC just because it was there:

Impatiently waiting for spring
It's cold!
Someone sent me a text today with a wolf on it -
It said -
Groundhog said 6 more weeks of winter. So I ate him!
Good for the wolf I say -
StooPid groundhog.
So. . . I was messing around with some file folder scraps.
I heard that. Flowers again you say - Yes. I like flowers. I don't know why the colors are so washed out on these. They are actually really bright. My scanner possibly. Hope you can see them OK.
And Yes, I do need a massive dose of SPRING!
And the man in the moon -
I was serious for a while and came up with this post card,
then I had to use up that left-over paint that ended up on this post card.
Have a happy day and stay warm! Thanks for looking.

trees
I painted this tree for my mom. She saw an ATC I painted for a friend and asked me to paint her one. Bigger. It's painted with acrylics on corrugated cardboard. It came out a little too blue for me but she likes it. But then being my mom she likes all my artwork.
This tree is done with acrylics on corrugated cardboard as well. It scanned a little darker than it really is. I like it. Guess you can tell I'm a treehugger lover.
This owl is something I started a while ago and just got back to. It's still a work in progress. It's just progressing slowly. The owl is done in acrylics and the background is done with water colors. It's painted on loose canvas. I'm not sure why I ever bought canvas sheets to begin with. Journal covers maybe?
And naturally I have to draw a face, with bad hair and one eye. Same as always!
Thanks for looking.

bloomin' tree
I took this photo in my yard with my phone a couple of weeks ago when the weather was faking Spring, and finally got around to painting it today. I really need to work on my backgrounds. How sad!
It's done with acrylic paint in my mole skin sketch book.

acrylic face & owls
A woman's face, this time in acrylic paint, done on a canvas sheet. I may turn this into a book cover.
Constructive criticism appreciated!
I also joined an ATC swap over on the ATCFUN group. Owls! naturally I joined! These are done in watercolor.
Thanks for looking.

Merry Christmas
I've been working on a few things. I made four ATC's and did a few loose pages for a journal.
I have been trying to improve my faces. Here are the latest ones. I may add more to them but . . .
I hope everyone has a very Blessed and Happy Christmas. Stay safe and warm.

The Last Page
I finally finished the last page in my October Journal. The prompt was to draw the outline of a skull and fill it with things that remind you of a loved one. This is for my Dad, "Pop ZJ"
My Dad was one of those guys that could do anything he set his mind to, but would rather be fishing. We spent some great times on the banks of fishin' holes. Most times fishing far into the night and sleeping in the truck or on the ground. He started smoking when he was 9. He died in 2001 of emphysema and lung cancer, He was 79.

October Journal
The journal prompt for the 18th was to jump into a book or a movie and what character would you be. I really couldn't think of a book or a movie that I would want to be in unless I was a minor character like maybe the wealthy relative that "doesn't" get killed off. So I just put a couple of stick folk jumping into a fairy tale. Castles, knights, dragons and damsels helping the distressed.
The prompt for the 19th was Masks. The thing that came to mind were the Comedy & Tragedy Masks. I didn't realize until I was finished that I had used the colors from an earlier prompt. Lime green, purple and blue, which I really like together. I think it needs something though. Ya think? I'll have to work on it more.
The 22nd - What door in your life is begging to be opened? There are too many doors to just choose one! This is the first time I have tried anything Zetti-like. I think I like it.
The 23rd was Daydreams and Nightmares. I couldn't get a good scan of this for some reason but the butterfly is done in a shimmery watercolor paint that you can't really see in the scan.
The 24th was the Wisdom Monkeys, you know, hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.
Thanks for looking.

Copy Cat
This weeks journal challenge was Copy Cat Creativity. We were to copy or make our own version of the Edvard Munch painting, The Scream. I think the painting is totally creepy and don't care for it at all so it took me all week to get to work on it but I finally came up with something.
If you would like to join in the weekly challenge they are posted every Monday on Raevens blog.

More October Journal
The prompt for Friday 12th was Lyrics from a song. This isn't usually hard for me, I make a lot of pages with songs in mind but this one just didn't work for me. My first try was a very small solitary man walking at the bottom of a very large page. Nowhere Man? He was certainly nowhere. I ended up doing one of my favorites from Louis Armstrong. "What a Wonderful World" I'm not really happy with it but ya gotta take the bad with the good.
Mondays prompt was Stripes. At first the page resembled really bad wallpaper but after Owl moved in it was much better and he doesn't seem to mind.
Tuesday 16th was Spiraling. Which is a little on the silly side.
Wednesday 17th was Rain. I went through several ideas with this one but when I ended up not being able to cover the mess underneath up . . . I painted it a very dark grey and drew on it with a white pencil. I'm actually pretty happy with it. Surprise! That almost 'never' happens!
So here I am all caught up again. Until tomorrow!

doodles
This is a blotter page that actually looks pretty good. Part of it was leftover paint on the household items stamps. I like it. The bird I doodled while the paint was drying in my October journal.

Journal pages 8 -9 - 10 - 11
The prompt for Monday the 8th was a favorite story or poem from childhood. I really don't remember any that I really liked but I did have a favorite song that my mom sang to me. So I used it as my inspiration. I had my mom write the words down for me and I stuck it in a pocket on the page.
THE CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM CONE
My mama said if I'd be good she'd send me to the store
She said she'd make some gingerbread if I would sweep the floor
She said if I would make the beds and watch the telephone
That she would send me out to get a chocolate ice cream cone
And so she did the things she said, and she made me some gingerbread
Then I went out just me alone and got my chocolate ice cream cone.
While coming home I stubbed my toe upon a big old stone
And need I tell you that I dropped my chocolate ice cream cone
A little puppy came along and took a great big lick
and so I hit that mean ole dog with just a little stick
Then he bit me where I sit down and he chased me all over town
And now I'm lost can;t find my home, all because of a chocolate ice cream cone.
(She sang, I cried 'cause the little girl was lost and begged her to sing it again and again).

Tuesday the 9th was using things around the house as stamps. Looking for things I discovered that most things in my house are round, except the credit card and the image that the potato bag left. It will make a great background.

This prompt for Wednesday the 10th was blueberry. The only thing that came to mind was . . . well, blueberries.

Today's prompt was falling leaves. I love trees. I draw a lot of trees. I was going to do the background with some leaf rubbings but all the leaves are crispy from lack of water so that didn't work out.
