Getting in the Spirit

I can hardly believe that Christmas is so close. 16 days! The year has really sped by.

I had joined an ATC advent swap and opening a Christmas ATC every day seems to be working on me. There are some really beautiful cards. There have been other Christmas swaps but I can't seem to get any of them done in time to join.

Here's the card I made for the Advent swap on ATCFUN group -  December 3rd.

Advent Christmas Cardinal
I also made a few Christmas cards which I totally forgot to scan. But they were very plain ones.
For the Holiday swap on ATCHandDrawPaint I used my Inktense and man they are intense. I really love using them.

I made a couple more just because they were in my head. I gave one away and kept the other. At least so far.

Then there was the 12 days of Christmas swap on the ATCFUN group. The song.  I came across a coloring book - that has much better drawings in it than mine - but I thought they were pretty cute. I missed the swap deadline so had to keep them. Bummer. HA!

Thanks for looking. I hope you enjoyed my Christmas art. I hope y'all have a Happy Christmas filled with many blessings and that you remember that Jesus is the reason for the season -

I haven't done much 'finished' art lately. I need to get busy. I've been trying to make my backgrounds interesting. I mean really, my backgrounds are just boring. Yep, I see you shaking your head up and down. You know I'm right. I'm using more stencils and templates. We'll see how it works out.

This is a Journal challenge from  raeven-fire on the Yahoo group ATCFUN. Celebrating finishing the Alphabet challenges. The figure is from a free template but I can't remember where I got it.

This is a postcard I did using the clocks stencil my friend Claudine sent me. I love it. I'm not as good with stencils as she is but I am practicing.  Check her blog claudinesartcorner She's great and does some really good tutorials.

Thanks for looking.

X, Y & Z

We have finished up the Alphabet Journal challenges on my Yahoo group ATCFUN. I enjoyed doing them.

X for Xeroxing - A Xerox machine makes copies. In other words it makes a lot of the same thing. A Repeating Pattern.

This one feels unfinished but nothing else came to mind so what ya see . . .

X - Xeroxing
Y for YES - Total Permission to say YES to your dreams, your hopes, your health, your self care, yourself.

I went to a fantastic website and used it for some of the doodles. Tangle patterns

Y - Yes

Z for Zetti - Make a page or a spread in the Zettiology style. The only thing you MUST do is use some Zebra Stripes.

Zetti is not my favorite thing. I looked at tons of Zetti style pages, made a list of things, grabbed a magazine and here's the end result. I think it gave me a headache! Or maybe it was the glue.

Z - Zetti

A beautiful gift

My blog friend Sonja sent me some beautiful tags and a pair of fabulous earrings. Check out her blog here - artfrommysoul . You'll love what she makes. Everything from journals, weaving, cooking, sewing - the list goes on... She is one talented lady.

Thank You Sonja. I love them.

What I've been doing part two

Here are a few more things I've been working on. The Journal Challenge from ATCFUN is almost over. Here are my U - V - W pages.

U - UFO - Uplifting F_____ O____.
V - Vibrant

W - Wicked with a wallet with something in it. Remember Edzel from Looney Tunes? She's cooking up some trouble for Bugs. (The recipe book is the wallet with a recipe in it).

A bookmark for my just turned 18 year old niece with some good advice on it.

Follow your heart but take your brain with you.

An ATC taken from a journal page.

And of course my all time favorite subject -

What I've been doing

It's been a while since my last post. I've been busy with other things but always make time to male art. Here are a few of the things I've been working on.

These three ATC's were for a music lyrics swap.

Karma - Kamelot
Swinging on a Star - Bing Crosby - I still walk around singing this song.

What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
I ended up making four Thanksgiving post cards for a mingle on ATCFUN yahoo group. I just wasn't happy with any of them. But the Scarecrow was the best I thought so that's the one I traded. I really do need to work on my 'oh so boring backgrounds'.

And I sent flowers to a few friends that needed something to smile about.

Halloween & journal challenges

Just a few Halloween post cards I did  for swaps (and myself) and a couple of journal challenges.

I almost always have to go back and add something to the journal challenge page that I left off. I always seem to overlook at least one thing on the challenge until I'm finished and go back to read it again.
S was Sacred which I had a lot of trouble with. How do you paint faith?  What I left out?  Sparkle!  So the heart has glitter on it.

S - Sacred with sparkle

T wasn't as hard for me.  Timeless with a time piece of some sort on it.  I didn't leave anything off.  At least I don't think I did!  I tried to get the drawings inside an hourglass but it just wouldn't co-operate so, a pocket watch.  I'm not really a big fan of ballet but whats more timeless than Swan Lake surrounded by Starry Night?  You can't really see my stars . Well, Van Gogh I'm not.  But it was fun.

T - Timeless with a time piece

Now to the next journal challenge.
UFO - Uplift F______ O_______.

This weeks art

My Mom turned 83 on 9-11. We had a family cook out at my brothers house. Burgers, fries cake and ice cream.  Here's the birthday card I did for her. What could be better for a birthday than birds, flowers and balloons!!!

On the Yahoo group ATCFUN, I'm hosting a Halloween Post Card mingle. Here's mine.

A flower on 4X6 watercolor paper. I used an ATC I did earlier rather than drawing from a photo. I love the purple cone-flowers. They grow wild in my yard along with several other wild flowers.

.

The R Journal Challenge this week was "Radiant Woman with the color red on the page". I wasn't feeling too radiant this week so it's just a pencil sketch with a little watercolor on it. Maybe I'll be radiant next week.

YES she did have work done on her upper lip. (Botox?)
I finally finished a painting I have been working on. When I think I'm done I always see something I want to change but I guess I have to stop somewhere!
