OWLS

There is a livecam of a Great Horned Owl that built a nest in an apartment flowerbox. She's in the process of hatching her 2 eggs. Hopefully the babies will peek out soon.

What I've been doing

It's been a while but I haven't done a lot. The ever-changing weather (yesterday was warm today there's snow). makes me restless and I have a hard time concentrating on just one thing until it's finished. So, I have several things going on but I'm not interested in working on any of them.

Here are a few ATC's I did. The first three owls are for a swap I may or may not join. I'm not happy with them. I ended up with three of the last one to send. I don't normally make several of the same, blame it on the weather!

I made a couple of ATC's for the monthly lottery at ATCFUN. The theme is Spring, which I chose because I won last month. YEAH! Naturally I wasn't happy with one of them and had to make another, I'm fairly happy with it. I may have to change it some.

These are just because ATC's. Naturally there are owls.

I took all the pieces of watercolor paper I had around and made tags of all sizes. I've been doodling on them.

I haven't really worked in my journal but I did draw a couple of faces in a small book I carry in my backpack.  I'm getting better but I still can't make two eyes that look like they belong on the same person. I couldn't get the neck right for some reason. Oh well. Better next time.

Bird Brain

Yes! I still have birds on the brain. What can I say I love birds.

Short bird story.
After hearing a ruckus on the deck I walked out to see what wonderful little tid-bit my cat brought me. He was surprisingly innocent.  I interrupted a Mississippi Kite about to invade the birds at the feeder. Brazen bully! I'm glad I interrupted him. I love my little birdies. Now if it would have been an owl I would just say, "Well it's gotta eat"! (The feeders are too high for the cat, Just sayin')

I have a couple of friends that also love birds, if you can imagine that, (not that I have friends but that they like birds), so I did up a small watercolor for each of them.

Merry Christmas

I've been working on a few things. I made four ATC's and did a few loose pages for a journal.

I have been trying to improve my faces. Here are the latest ones. I may add more to them but . . .

Sleepless Night & Muses

 It's been a while since I've made ATC's but I couldn't sleep the other night so I spent the time making some quick ones.

I made up an Owl goodie bag for a fellow Owl Lover. I made her an 8 page Christmas booklet with Christmas tags inside. I will have to make more of them. I really like them but I need them to be BIGGER! This was a swap on the Yahoo group, ATC FUN    I didn't join the swap but I did watch the video and make the booklet. Muses to keep her creativity flowing. The nine daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, the Muses: Calliope, Clio, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomene,Terpsichore,  Erato, Polyhymnia,and Urania in Owl form of course!

And of course a really grumpy owl. All my owls come out grumpy. Don't know why.

More October Journal

The prompt for Friday 12th was Lyrics from a song. This isn't usually hard for me, I make a lot of pages with songs in mind but this one just didn't work for me. My first try was a very small solitary man walking at the bottom of a very large page. Nowhere Man? He was certainly nowhere. I ended up doing one of my favorites from Louis Armstrong. "What a Wonderful World"  I'm not really happy with it but ya gotta take the bad with the good.

Mondays prompt was Stripes. At first the page resembled really bad wallpaper but after Owl moved in it was much better and he doesn't seem to mind.

Tuesday 16th was Spiraling. Which is a little on the silly side.

Wednesday 17th was Rain. I went through several ideas with this one but when I ended up not being able to cover the mess underneath up . . . I painted it a very dark grey and drew on it with a white pencil. I'm actually pretty happy with it. Surprise! That almost 'never' happens!

Confidence and Art

In one of my Yahoo groups we've been discussing confidence in our art. Some of us seem to have the same problem, believing that what we create isn't good enough. I think maybe instead of not being good enough I'm just not serious enough or not patient enough. I want the end result RIGHT NOW! I am going to work on my patience when I create. (I think it's a little late to work on serious). 

It's so hot out I've been working on a few things inside. I added borders on the flower ATC's. they look more finished now. 

 I found this unfinished one in my stash so finished it. Kinda plain, I may do something else to it. 

Someone in my ATC Fun group hosted a Birds swap. It really pained me but I resisted, it was hard but I prevailed! So now there's an owl swap. Really? Like I can NOT join a swap with owls. I'm so weak. I only made seven owl ATC's.

I worked in my journal a little. Very little, but here is a page I did. Surprise! It's an owl!
