rainbow lady

In getting quotes for the hanging heart journal page this one caught my attention. The rainbow lady came out. Thanks Angie. I used water color crayons and Twinkling H2O's.

Thanks for looking.

Spring is in the air - somewhere surely

I know Spring will eventually get here, well, unless it just jumps into summer without it. Most of my art these days seems to be Spring-y.

In my Yahoo group  ATCFUN  we have a weekly journal challenge. Right now we are working through the alphabet. We're on letter E. The challenge - a hidden envelope with something E in it. I had some cute scrapbook paper with these critters on it so naturally a zoo came to mind and maybe because its a zoo around my house. My envelope didn't hide very well but I really liked the page so I used it. Maybe I will make another that can hide better later but for now this is it.

The envelope is not so glaringly in your face really. I blame the scanner!

Can you believe an elephant was hiding in that little envelope!
I did a couple of ATC's just because. This one is from one of my drawings. I like the little bird so much I made a stencil of it. It came out pretty well. I had to do a little touch-up with a brush but I'm happy with it.

This is just weeds. I know not many people like weeds but I do. Most of the ones that bloom anyway. These are just made-up ones but I like them. I used Twinkling H2O's on the weeds. They are wonderful! You can't see the shimmer in the scan but they do shimmer.

This last is a journal page that just sort of emerged. I wasn't really happy with it but finally finished it after several days. I like it better now. I could see some big black words on it but couldn't read them. Finally just gave up, maybe they weren't meant to be read!

I am so ready for spring! I thought it was here but apparently it was just teasing!

This is a collage I've been working on for a while. It's done on a piece of  heavy cardboard, 22"X29".  I enjoyed working on it and am starting another one soon.

Tags

I joined a tag swap on the ATCFUN group.

The flower on the this tag is a stencil I made, the background is a heavy coat of gesso. I really like the texture.

This tag has a thick messy coat of Glossy Gel medium on it. More texture.

These last two are just watercolors. no texture.

OWLS

There is a livecam of a Great Horned Owl that built a nest in an apartment flowerbox. She's in the process of hatching her 2 eggs. Hopefully the babies will peek out soon.
You can watch here http://www.ustream.tv/okcowlcam

Here's my journal page from a few days ago.

What I've been doing

It's been a while but I haven't done a lot. The ever-changing weather (yesterday was warm today there's snow). makes me restless and I have a hard time concentrating on just one thing until it's finished. So, I have several things going on but I'm not interested in working on any of them.

Here are a few ATC's I did. The first three owls are for a swap I may or may not join. I'm not happy with them. I ended up with three of the last one to send. I don't normally make several of the same, blame it on the weather!

I made a couple of ATC's for the monthly lottery at ATCFUN. The theme is Spring, which I chose because I won last month. YEAH! Naturally I wasn't happy with one of them and had to make another, I'm fairly happy with it. I may have to change it some.

These are just because ATC's. Naturally there are owls.

I took all the pieces of watercolor paper I had around and made tags of all sizes. I've been doodling on them.

I haven't really worked in my journal but I did draw a couple of faces in a small book I carry in my backpack.  I'm getting better but I still can't make two eyes that look like they belong on the same person. I couldn't get the neck right for some reason. Oh well. Better next time.

acrylic face & owls

A woman's face, this time in acrylic paint, done on a canvas sheet. I may turn this into a book cover.

Constructive criticism appreciated!

I also joined an ATC swap over on the ATCFUN group. Owls! naturally I joined! These are done in watercolor.
