This is Marley. My first dog portrait. It's done in pencil on white sketch paper. I wish I would have done it on toned? paper so I could have used a white pencil but I didn't and it isn't and I won't do it again! It took me so long! I am in a hurry, I don't want it to take weeks. I wanna see it NOW! I thought I was gonna go
nuts barking mad! It was hard to stop shading! Just a little more here, and here, and here, Oh! and over here could use a little more! HA! But I like it. I think it looks like him, (and his hippo). What do you think?

You did a fabulous job. Eyes can be tricky, and you nailed it. It was definitely worth all the time you spent on this treasure.

ReplyDeleteVery much the likeness! I would suggest gently adding a bit of mid tone the way you did on his hippo. That will soften the overall look of his face. Keep the paper color whete you would normally add your white pencil. Very sweet gift he must be greatly missed.
