October Journal pages 25 & 26

I finally finished the Journal pages for last week.

The prompt for the 25th was What's Outside My Window? This is basically what's outside my window - if you ignore the fence, the overgrown weeds and the two disintegrating chicken pens on the other side of it. (Which I did). Then this is close. Mostly.

Oct 25 whats outside my window

The prompt for the 26th was - A different view outside the window and in her dreams she could fly.
My "Dream" place to live would  have snow capped mountains on one side and a beach on the other.

October Journal

The journal prompt for the 18th was to jump into a book or a movie and what character would you be. I really couldn't think of a book or a movie that I would want to be in unless I was a minor character like maybe the wealthy relative that "doesn't" get killed off. So I just put a couple of stick folk jumping into a fairy tale. Castles, knights, dragons and damsels helping the distressed.

The prompt for the 19th was Masks. The thing that came to mind were the Comedy & Tragedy Masks. I didn't realize until I was finished that I had used the colors from an earlier prompt. Lime green, purple and blue, which I really like together. I think it needs something though. Ya think? I'll have to work on it more.

The 22nd - What door in your life is begging to be opened? There are too many doors to just choose one! This is the first time I have tried anything Zetti-like. I think I like it.

Oct 22 What door to open?

The 23rd was Daydreams and Nightmares. I couldn't get a good scan of this for some reason but the butterfly is done in a shimmery watercolor paint that you can't really see in the scan.

The 24th was the Wisdom Monkeys, you know, hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.

Thanks for looking.

Friedensriech Hundertwasser

On the journaling group we were to do something in the style of Friedensriech Hundertwasser. I'm not really a fan so I had to talk myself into doing it. I may have been able to come up with something better if I would have worked at it longer but I just got tired of it. Here's my page. Thanks for looking.

Copy Cat

This weeks journal challenge was Copy Cat Creativity. We were to copy or make our own version of the Edvard Munch painting, The Scream. I think the painting is totally creepy and don't care for it at all so it took me all week to get to work on it but I finally came up with something.

More October Journal

The prompt for Friday 12th was Lyrics from a song. This isn't usually hard for me, I make a lot of pages with songs in mind but this one just didn't work for me. My first try was a very small solitary man walking at the bottom of a very large page. Nowhere Man? He was certainly nowhere. I ended up doing one of my favorites from Louis Armstrong. "What a Wonderful World"  I'm not really happy with it but ya gotta take the bad with the good.

Oct 12 Song Lyrics

Mondays prompt was Stripes. At first the page resembled really bad wallpaper but after Owl moved in it was much better and he doesn't seem to mind.

Oct 15 - Stripes

Tuesday 16th was Spiraling. Which is a little on the silly side.

Oct 16 - Spiraling

Wednesday 17th was Rain. I went through several ideas with this one but when I ended up not being able to cover the mess underneath up . . . I painted it a very dark grey and drew on it with a white pencil. I'm actually pretty happy with it. Surprise! That almost 'never' happens!

Oct 17 - Rain

So here I am all caught up again. Until tomorrow!

doodles

This is a blotter page that actually looks pretty good. Part of it was leftover paint on the household items stamps. I like it. The bird I doodled while the paint was drying in my October journal.

The prompt for Monday the 8th was a favorite story or poem from childhood. I really don't remember any that I really liked but I did have a favorite song that my mom sang to me. So I used it as my inspiration. I had my mom write the words down for me and I stuck it in a pocket on the page.

THE CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM CONE
My mama said if I'd be good she'd send me to the store
She said she'd make some gingerbread if I would sweep the floor
She said if I would make the beds and watch the telephone
That she would send me out to get a chocolate ice cream cone
And so she did the things she said, and she made me some gingerbread
Then I went out just me alone and got my chocolate ice cream cone.

While coming home I stubbed my toe upon a big old stone
And need I tell you that I dropped my chocolate ice cream cone
A little puppy came along and took a great big lick
and so I hit that mean ole dog with just a little stick
Then he bit me where I sit down and he chased me all over town
And now I'm lost can;t find my home, all because of a chocolate ice cream cone.

(She sang, I cried 'cause the little girl was lost and begged her to sing it again and again).

The Chocolate Ice Cream Cone

Tuesday the 9th was using things around the house as stamps. Looking for things I discovered that most things in my house are round, except the credit card and the image that the potato bag left. It will make a great background.

This prompt for Wednesday the 10th was blueberry. The only thing that came to mind was . . . well, blueberries.

Today's prompt was falling leaves. I love trees. I draw a lot of trees. I was going to do the background with some leaf rubbings but all the leaves are crispy from lack of water so that didn't work out.

October journal pages 3 - 4 - 5

I'm a little behind in posting these pages from my October Journal. I had them done on time (surprise!) but my scanner is a little persnickety so I waited until I had several pages to scan before I messed with it.

Last Wednesday we were to make a page to eradicate a fear. I had some trouble with this because I don't really fear something until it's pretty close to in my face. But here's something that I really watch for when I'm outside. I'm thinking this snake needs a cartoon caption. What do you think?

The background on Thursdays is a little "bleck" but I was trying out some dylusions spray and man do I need more practice! The lime green didn't show up very well. It's really much darker than the scan shows it to be. I did the background but this is a collage not a painting. Well, someone painted it, it just wasn't me!

Combine lime green, teal blue and plum purple
This last one was an easy one. I Praise my Lord so that's what came to mind for this one. My vision was of  real people but I don't do them very well so I opted for these. I think I need some work on lettering as well. And again the colors are somewhat brighter than they appear here. Maybe my scanner is trying to tell me something?

Praise
My Barney book turned journal is working out really well. It's probably the phone book pages and Gesso rather than Barney but I really like the way everything works on it. Watercolor is a little pale but I'll just have to figure it out as I go.

An October Journal

On one of my Yahoo groups we are doing an October Journal. A prompt for everyday of the month (except weekends). I used an old Barney book that has 16 pages or 32 back & front. Covered each page with a phone book page then gesso. It really made a great journal.

October Journal Cover
I realize this isn't an October look but I'm very fond of dandelion "wishers" we call them. I may re-do it but for now what you see is what you get.

October 1
The prompt for Monday the 1st was "I am most "me" when. . .  The picture speaks for itself don't you think?

The prompt for Tuesday the 2nd was to use a collection of things from the day or the week. Normally  things like receipts and junk mail go in the shredder not in my art work. I also used mail from the dentist, a Koolade package and leftovers from a birthday card I made. I may have gone a little overboard on the black spots. What do you think?

Yep, you guessed it. I am behind on this as well. You know what they say - The hurrier I go the behinder I get. That's me they're talking about!

This last one is just a random page I did. It started as a mess. The sprayer had a clog and spit and sputtered all over the place. It even got a little paint on the paper it was pointed at!

Journal challenges

I got a little behind in my journal challenges. Just 3 weeks behind, Hey, it could be worse. But I got busy and got them all done. The first one has been done a while I was just too lazy to scan it.

Challenge #7 opposites
This challenge was to separate the page in half and draw opposites. I just let the book center be the dividing line and did day and night in ink. I'm thinking I should have made the night side darker somehow but I actually just thought about it so - too late!

Challenge #8 Template
This challenge was to work from a template which I am not very good at. I decided rather than paint I would do a collage. I thought the page looked pretty good until I scanned it. I know, you're thinking "why did she use those papers"? well, I've never really matched. Anytime my sister and I were going somewhere together she would always ask, "Are you wearing that"? so I knew something wasn't going together. But, did I go change, of course not!

challenge #9  A am a Radiant, Glorious, Fabulous Woman
This challenge was a real stinker.  "I am a Radiant, Glorious, Fabulous Woman". I have never even thought those words in regards to myself and it seems that everyone else doing the challenge had the same problem. BUT Raeven gave us all a kick in the butt and we got over it! For all you ladies that don't feel good about yourselves, hop over to Raevens blog and read her thoughts on the subject (and as she's a great artist, there's also a lot of very good art to look at). This is suppose to be a self portrait but I'm thinking this woman is a stranger. The grey hair now that's mine.
